Pinot Noir 2015 Description ...
The Pinot Noir used for the La Forge Estate Red was sourced from 18-year-old vines from a contracted winery within the Languedoc Wine region, Southern France. The fruit was harvested at night in cool conditions and transported to Domaine Paul Mas in Pezenas, where the fruit rests with full skin contact for 3 days, before fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by a further 5 day’s maceration. Malolactic fermentation takes place in 225Lt barrels, before maturation for 6 months in oak.
Fairley's Wines Tasting Note ...
The Paul Mas La forge Red appears ruby red with an array of ripe red fruits, mingled with spice and hints of vanilla. The palate opens with an abundance of rich cherry fruit, combined with raspberries and a hint of strawberry, warm spice with soft tannins, finishing balanced with even more spice and sweet red fruit. Please allow to breathe 1-2 hours and would be best served with lamb, red meat, veal, pork and medium cheeses.
