Brewed on the North Coast of Ireland

Lacada Point is a low slung rocky outcrop, a few hundred yards from the world famous iconic Giant’s Causeway on the north coast of Ireland. The name is derived from the original Gaelic, Liach Fada which means long stone. It was here in 1588 that the fate of the Girona was sealed. She was one of the last few ships remaining from the storm ravaged Spanish Armada. With a broken rudder she was driven on to Lacada point and wrecked with the loss of over 800 men. In the late 1960s the copious amounts of treasure were hauled from the sea bed, amongst them the ruby encrusted gold salamander which is still the most valuable piece of treasure in Ireland. In 2013 a group of friends who shared a love of good beer and the north coast began to make plans for a microbrewery. Not only did they want the beers to be different and outstanding but they also wanted the same distinctions for the way the business would run. Thus they chose to form a co-operative and embarked upon a Community Share Offer to invite other like-minded people to join with them. The result has been, to date, 280 co-owners and almost £95K raised.
