Neethlingshof Estate is located in the heart the Stellenbosch District, South Africa's Coastal Wine Region, the winery is placed on the foothills of the Papegaaisberg Mountains (Parrot Mountain) adjacent to the Bottelary Hills. Established in 1692 by Willem Barend Lubbe the winery was formerly known as De Wolvendans (The Dance of Wolves). The winery was renamed Neethlingshof after 19th century owner Marthinus Laurentius Neethling, who served as mayor of Stellenbosch and also served in old cape parliament. The Estate is a member of the Biodiversity & Wine Initiative, with eco-sustainability and conservation at the heart of its wine making. The team at Neethlingshof is led by winemaker De Wet Viljoen, Viticulturist Hannes van Zyl and his son, Jacobus van Zyl.
