Do Ataide Reserva 2011 Description ...
Winemakers Charles Symington and Pedro Correla are responsible for the Altano Ataide Reserva, with the fruit sourced from Symington family vineyard Quinta Do Ataide, located in the remote Vilarica Valley, Douro Superior. The fruit was hand harvested into 20kg containers, fermented in stainless steel and aged in American oak over a 13month period, followed by post fermentation maceration, thus developing a broader and more substantial structure.
Fairley's Wines Tasting Note ...
The Altano Quinta Do Ataide appears deep red, almost black with intense aromas of flower, black fruit and hints of chocolate spice on the nose. The palate overwhelms with rich blackberry fruit, cinnamon and velvety soft, finishing full and sweet with dark chocolate vanilla spice. An exceptional rich red that is drinking great now but will get even better 8-10 years, allow to-breathe and would be best served with soft cheese and even chocolate.
