The Vinhos Verdes wine region is the largest in Portugal, located north-west the region is bordered by the Minho River, separating Portugal with Spain's Galicia in the north, to the west lies the Atlantic Ocean and further south a mountainous area separates the region from the Douro region. The region is divided into nine sub-regions, with the grape varieties Loureiro and Paderna prominent in only three, Lima, Cavado and Ave.

The wine for the Portuguese Aragonez was produced from vines owned by Casa Agricola Alexandre Relvas, located in Alentejo. The Region lies in eastern Portugal, south of the Tejo River and is infamous for its Aragonez wine, also known as Tempranillo. After fermentation 50% of the wine is matured for 6 months in French and American oak barrels, prior to bottling at the winery.
