Pinot Noir 2011 Description ...
The Cowslip Vineyard is found in Marlborough's Waihopai Valley, western end of the Wairau Valley, some 100m above sea level and 18 miles from the coast. The fruit for the Pinot noir was hand-picked from the family vineyard, using traditional methods of winemaking, the parcels of fruit were fermented in open vats. The resulting macerated wine was further aged in new and old oak for 10 months.
Fairley's Wines Tasting Note ...
The Winemakers' Reserve Marlborough Pinot Noir displays full ruby red, with youthful purple hues, aromas of dried red fruit, accompanied with spice and fragrant oak on the nose. The palate is textured with ripe plum with sweet juicy raspberry, enhanced with seasoned cedar oak, finishing medium and firm with concentrated lively fruit character, herbal with underlying sweet spice. The 2011 Pinot Noir is still young and will definitely get better and better with aged, 2-7 years. Allow to-breathe 1-2 hours and would be best served with quail, risotto and casseroles.
