Riesling 2011 Description ...

The fruit for the Babich Family Estates Cowslip Valley Riesling is sourced from Marlborough's Waihopai Valley, Babich Cowslip Valley Vineyard. The vineyard lies on a gentle rise and is a Glacial outwash, forming free draining clay loam soils and a frost prone site perfect for the Riesling grape variety. The fermentation is carried out in stainless steel with the ferments stopped before completion, retaining a natural level of sweetness that balances the acidity.

Fairley's Wines Tasting Note ...

The Family Estates Cowslip Valley Riesling appears golden in colour with an abundance of citrus fruit, herbal with orange blossom aromas and red apple on the nose. The palate is complex with layers of sweet juicy red apple, grapefruit and spice, finishing mouth-watering with lemon and lime, herbal with some minerality and medium dry. Excellent and drinking now, allow to open in the glass, even decant. Best served with Asian dishes and mussels.
