Astrolabe Farm Vineyard - Southern Island | Marlborough
Astrolabe Wine Label was created in 1996 by winemaker Simon Waghorn, the wines are a winemakers label with the grapes sourced from three key sub-regions within Marlborough, Awatere Valley, Wairau Valley and Kekerengu Coast. The family owned Astrolabe Farm vineyard is located in the Wairau Valley in Grovetown, not far from the Richmond Ranges and produced its first vintage in 1997. L’Astrolabe was the name of french explorer Dumont d’Urville ship, who explored Marlborough in 1827 and is also the name for a navigational instrument and translates as “Star Taker”.
