2016 Cortese di Gavi Description ...
The Region lies in the southern part of Piedmont, North Western Italy. It derives its name from the town of Gavi, located in the regions centre. The vineyards are found in the surrounding hills and consist of 13 communes, within the Province of Alessandria. The region was awarded DOCG status in 1998 and is considered Piedmont finest for white wine production. The Fruit for the wine was sourced from Principessa Gavia single vineyard estate, located in the classic Gavi sub-region of Novi Ligure.
Fairley's Wines Tasting Note ...
The Cortese appears straw yellow with greenish reflections, somewhat floral with green fruits interwoven with fresh citrus and hints of mimosa on the nose. The palate is harmonic with fresh flowers followed by apple and lively lime, finishing clean and persistent with great length and balanced acidity. Best consumed young and would be excellent as an aperitif or with fresh seafood and poultry dishes.
