Description for the Thauvenay Sauvignon Blanc ...
The Sauvignon Blanc for the Thauveney-en-Sancerrois were sourced from vineyards located on the left bank of the River Loire, in the commune of Thauvenay, one of 14 within the Sancerre AOC, Central Loire Valley. The family origins date back to 1860, with the great grandmother of Eric, selling her wine at market. Today the estate is a combination of two vineyards, resting at altitudes of between 120 and 300 meters above sea-level, both located in and around the village of Thauvenay.
Fairley's Wines Tasting Note ...
The Central Loire Sauvignon Blanc appears pale golden in colour with upfront citrus and tropical fruit, combined with minerality and hints of flint on the nose. The palate is full and fresh with passionfruit and zesty lemon, somewhat chalky with lively acidity, finishing long with hints of gooseberry and stony minerality. An excellent white that should not be over chilled and would be best served with salty seafood, tuna or a chicken salad.
