Review for the 2013 EQ Syrah ...
The fruit for the Syrah were sourced from three different Clones located on the slopes of the family owned Rosario Vineyard, in the San Antonio Valley. The 61 hectares of vines are planted at different levels and on different percentages of decomposed granite and quartz, all adding something different to the production of the EQ Syrah. The cool climate of the southern Rosario ensures slow and optimum ripening, allowing each clone to reach its full potential.
Tasting Note from Fairley's Wines ...
The resulting Syrah appears a deep ruby colour, with layers of black fruit, mingled with fragrant violet, pungent black pepper and warm spice, somewhat earthy with underlying dark chocolate on the nose. The palate is full and complex with soft ripe blackberry fruit, dried black cherry, laced with pepper and spice, finishing strong and disciplined with creamy chocolate and even more spiced black fruit. Allow to breathe 1-2 hours and has great aging potential, although drinking excellent now. Best served with roasted red meat, lamb or mature cheese.
