Review for the 2013 EQ Pinot Noir ...
The EQ Pinot Noir was hand crafted from Matetic owned Vineyards 6 miles from the Pacific Ocean, located in the cool climate Casablanca valley, part of the greater Aconcagua valley wine region. The fruit was harvested from organic and biodynamic vines, with each plant only producing 1kg of grape. Fermented and racked using various sized barrels, from different coopers and aged for 14 months before final blending and bottling.
Tasting Note from Fairley's Wines ...
The Pinot Noir displays an intense violet red but al so bright in colour. The nose is farmyard, fresh and intense with complex red fruit, earthy and spiced. The palate opens with ripe fresh red cherry, sweet raspberry and velvety soft, balanced with hints of minerality, finishing leafy with persistent cocoa and subtle smoked oak. The best Pinot Noir I have tried from Chile, intense and structured with controlled acidity and should be allowed to-breathe 2-3 hours. Best served with pork, pasta and some spicy food.
