Review for the 2013 EQ Chardonnay ...
The fruit for the EQ Chardonnay were harvested by hand in late March from the family owned Rosario Vineyard, San Antonio Valley, with each vine producing only small yields, approximately 1.5KG per plant. The whole bunches were pressed, with fermentation carried out in French burgundy barrels of different sizes, before final aging for 11 months in Oak barrels, allowing the wine to rest on the Lees.
Tasting Note from Fairley's Wines ...
The Chardonnay is a vibrant golden colour with fetching citrus and tropical fruit aromas, gently textured creamy oak and hints of salty minerality , very different indeed. The palate is full and round with peach and pear, mingled with zingy lime, fresh and balanced with hints of creamy oak, finishing round and lasting with even more tropical fruit, locked in with mouth filling citrus. Expressive and elegant and should be allowed to open in the glass. Best served with creamy chicken dishes, seafood pasta and mature cheese.
