Review for the 2014 Corralillo Syrah ...
The fruit for the Syrah were sourced from two different sections of the family owned Rosario vineyard, with different sun exposures and altitudes. The fruit was subsequently harvested from the slopes of the vineyard in late April, with a portion of grapes de-stemmed and pressed, other bunches left intact. The different techniques applied, add volume and complexity to the wine, making the wine itself stand out and combined with the different methods of fermentation the wine is complex, restrained and very elegant.
Tasting Note from Fairley's Wines ...
The resulting Corralillo Syrah brims with life, vivid red with purple tints. The nose is cooked with a spectrum of black and red fruit, perfumed with warm pepper, mingled with creamy dark chocolate. The palate is intense and full, with lashings of dark cherry, raspberry and underlying redcurrant, white pepper locked in with savoury spice, finishing complex and soft with something different every sip. Allow to open in the glass, excellent to the end and has great aging potential. Best served with duck, BBQ meat and smoked cheese.
