1997 Vintage Port Description ...

The fruit for Graham's 1997 Vintage Port was sourced from four different wineries, Quinta Dos Malvedos, Quinta Das Larges, Quinta Do Vale De Malhadas and Quinta Da Vila Velha, located within two of the three sub-regions of the Douro Valley, Cima Corgo (Upper Corgo) and Douro Superior (upper Douro), central and eastern areas of the Douro Valley. Each day during harvest, parcels (Iotes) of wine are produced and allowed to maturate in the Douro before the Iotes are removed and transported to Graham's Lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia, where the Vintage is aged in seasoned oak casks, known as Pipes, for approximately 18 months before being bottled.

Wine Advocate 2000 - Robert Parker - Graham's 1997 Vintage Port ...

"Blackberries, liquorice and melted asphalt stand out in this full-bodied, beautifully made vintage port's moderately intense bouquet . It is not one of the great Graham's ports, and is less sweet than normal, but it is full-bodied, rich, concentrated, and impressive."
