1963 Vintage Port Description ...

The Dow's 1963 Vintage Port was the first vintage released by the Symington Family since they became sole owners in 1961 and the last vintage treaded by foot in stone Lagares. Nowadays only a small proportion of the fruit is treaded and the Upper Douro is one of only places that still carries out this tradition. With the fruit sourced mostly from Dow's own Vineyards, Quinta do Bomfim and Senhora da Ribeira, the Dow's 1963 Vintage Port is probably the best vintage produced in that decade.

Wine Advocate 1989 - Robert Parker - Dow's 1963 Vintage Port ...

"This is an extraordinary house that seems to have been particularly successful with its vintage port since 1977. The 1963 is a classic, a monumental, rich, still tannic wine that will last at least another 30 years."

Anticipated Maturity: 1989-2019.          Robert Parker Score: 92 / 100
