Aged 12 Years Description ...
The Powers Special Reserve Aged 12 Years is a blend of predominantly Pot Still Whiskey with a smaller proportion of Grain Whiskey added, all aged between 12 and 21 years. The Grain Whiskey is produced from mash of maize and malted barley, distilled using a Column still, also known as a Continuous Still. The Grains are tripled distilled and matured exclusively in bourbon casks, adding more delicate characteristics, combined with fragrant and floral notes.
Fairley's Tasting Note ...
The Special Reserve opens with an abundance of spiced honey, perfumed oils, fat and somewhat fragrant on the nose. The taste is medium with spicy complexity, mingled with malted fruit, nuts and citrus, finishing with toasted oak, caramel, even more spice and banana.
