Very Rare 2016 Description ...
The Midleton Very Rare Irish Whiskey is made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley, which is then triple distilled in copper pot stills and cut with the Crystal clear water from the Dungourney river, which flows through the distillery. First launched in 1984 by Master Bender Barry Walsh, Midleton VR uses seasoned Bourbon Barrels, straight from the USA and with no age statement and its handcrafted nature; each vintage produced can vary somewhat in taste.
Fairley's Tasting Note ...
The Midleton VR 2016 appears dark amber in colour with caramel, ripe sultanas, full pot still characters and somewhat fruity with honey on the nose. The taste is medium bodied with a sweet sugary start, making way to maltiness and spice, honey interwoven with berry fruits, finishing pure pot still with sticky toffee and light coffee roast.
