Black Barrel Description ...
Matured in both American Oak Barrels and Spanish Sherry Butts, the Jameson Select Reserve Black Barrel is a blend between a small batch of rare grain whiskey, produced once a year and rich pot still whiskey. The Bourbon barrels used are 1st Fill and have been handpicked by Master Cooper, Ger Buckley, more importantly they have been Charred a second time to his exact specifications ' Black Barrels'. Each finished cask is then inspected and only those handpicked by Master Blender, Billy Leighton are used, Chosen not by age but by the Select Reserve's signature flavour.
Fairley's Tasting Note ...
The Black Barrel opens with notes of grain and barley, locked in with sweet exotic fruits, apple and apricot. The taste is full of toasted vanilla, caramel and pot still spice with lingering fruit, finishing long and oily with mint, wood spice and even more fruit, extremely rich and clean to the very end.
