Lacada Point is a low slung rocky outcrop, a few hundred yards from the world famous iconic Giant’s Causeway on the north coast of Ireland. The name is derived from the original Gaelic, Liach Fada which means long stone. It was here in 1588 that the fate of the Girona was sealed. She was one of the last few ships remaining from the storm ravaged Spanish Armada. With a broken rudder she was driven on to Lacada point and wrecked with the loss of over 800 men.
