Graan Genever Description ...
Zuidam distillery was established in 1975 by Fred Van Zuidam and is located on the Holland-Belgium Border in the town of Baarle-Nassau, North Brabant Province. The distillery has grown from 300 square meters and one copper pot still to 3600 square meters, 4 copper pot stills and over 1000 oak barrels. Zuidam Jonge comprises of a very high malt wine content (14.5%- max for Jonge is 15%) which gives depth of flavour and richness. The mash which is made from equal parcels of rye, corn and malted barley is distilled three times in copper pot stills. 10% of the resulting spirit is then re-distilled with a selection of botanicals- juniper, anise, liquorice and selected herbs. The final part of the process is the infusion of both distillates to form a non-oaked mild flavoured genever with a gentle mouth feel.
