Death's Door Description ...
Death's Door Micro-Distillery is located in Middleton, Dane County, Wisconsin. A suburb of the state capital Madison. The name comes from the treacherous straight of water which runs between Door county and Washington Island, where the organic hard red winter wheat is grown, the base ingredients of the gin along with malted barley. Brian Ellison started with 5 acres of wheat, which has grown to 1200 acres.
Fairley's Wines Tasting Note ...
Nose - "The resulting mash is triple distilled in a 90 gallon copper still before being re-distilled with the addition of three local organic botanicals; juniper, coriander and fennel most notable on the nose."
Palate - "Death's Door Gin is a fresh new entry in the micro-gin category. The flavour evolves, full juniper berry with hints of coriander spice, citrusy middle finishing cool with some fennel. Ideal with a slice of orange, a sprig of mint and your choice of tonic, plenty of ice."
Death's Door and Tonic - 1 part Death's Door Gin/ice/Slice of Orange/Mint and topped up with a Premium Tonic.
